Online Job Ad Volume Largely Unchanged in 2025

March 03, 2026

Oregon employers posted an average of 92,400 online job postings every month in 2025, according to data from Lightcast-Conference Board’s Help Wanted OnLine program. This was little changed from 2024.

The pandemic recession resulted in significant variation in ad volume over the last five years. In 2019, an average of 86,200 jobs were posted online in Oregon every month. This declined in 2020 before rebounding in 2021, when average monthly online ads rose sharply to 119,600. In May 2022, online job postings reached a record high of 144,100. Monthly ads remained historically high throughout that year, averaging 133,000 per month. In 2023, average monthly ads dropped to 101,300. Ad volume returned closer to pre-pandemic levels in 2024 and 2025, when monthly ads dropped to 91,100 and 92,400, respectively.

Ad Volume Varied Across Oregon

All regions of the state saw online ads in 2025, but bulk of postings were concentrated around Oregon’s population centers in the broader Portland area and Willamette Valley. The Portland Metro region averaged 37,400 monthly ads in 2025, a little less than half of Oregon’s average ad volume. Mid-Valley had the next largest average monthly ad volume at 14,200 ads, followed by Clackamas (9,700), Lane (7,600), East Cascades (7,200), Northwest Oregon (4,900), Rogue Valley (4,300), Eastern Oregon (3,000), and Southwestern Oregon (2,700).

Registered Nurses Continue to Top Postings

Registered nurses continued to have the most online ads in 2025. Statewide, employers posted nearly 20,100 unique job listings for registered nurses. The next highest volume of ads were for retail salespersons (16,900), home health and personal care aids (11,800), first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (10,300), and heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (10,000).
